Osteocalcin contains 49 amino acids including
three residues of vitamin K dependent g-carboxyglutamic
acid, Gla, at positions 17, 21, and 24. The Gla residues enable osteocalcin to
bind to hydroxyapatite, the principal bone mineral phase. The peptide is made by
solid phase peptide synthesis and purified by RP-HPLC. The quality is fully
supported by amino acid and HPLC analyses.
